2023 Convocation/Monastic Visit at KCMG July 30th through August 6th
Feeling much blessed, Kansas City Meditation Group is pleased to announce a new and unique way for area Self-Realization Fellowship devotees to experience Convocation this summer. The planned in-person screening event will begin with attendees in the KCMG chapel on Sunday, July 30th. Events will be streamed throughout the week. On the morning of Thursday, August 3rd, the group will be joined by SRF monastics, Br. Bhaskarananda and Br. Klaus. They will lead meditations, services, satsanga, and a pilgrimage to Rajarsi’s crypt, along with continuing to view Convocation events with us. The week of spiritual renewal will end on Sunday, August 6th with Sunday services, a vegetarian potluck lunch, and a special showing of the movie, “Lake Shrine Dedication” which features our blessed guru, Paramahansa Yogananda. Please see the attachments for a detailed schedule of the planned events. Note that the evening talks will be streamed on the night following their actual broadcast, when they can be shown at a more reasonable hour.
There will be a local satsanga (questions and answer session) on Saturday from 11:00-12:00 pm. Your questions may be submitted in writing in the box in the chapel’s foyer by July 20th, or you may email them directly to CenterDepartment@Yogananda-srf.org. (In the subject line note: “Att. Br. Bhaskarananda—Kansas City Satsanga). Any group related topics or personal spiritual questions are fine.
Also attached is a list of a few local hotels and restaurants to help you with planning for the week. Devotees are encouraged to register online for Convocation, but there is no formal registration for attending any or all events at the KCMG chapel. Please note, though, for admittance to the Technique classes on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday, your Lessons Student card, Kriyaban card, or an activated Lessons App will be required.
KCMG would appreciate any help you could give us in defraying the costs of bringing in the monastics, and providing accommodations, transportation, and other services for them. If you can be of assistance, you may donate online with this button:
Or mail your check directly to Kansas City Meditation Group at 10819 Wornall Rd., Kansas City MO 64114-5069, or place your donation in the envelope located in the seat back in the chapel and place it in the offertory basket with a note “Convocation Monastic Visit”. Please know that whatever you can do will be much appreciated.
If you think you would like to attend one or more of the many Convocation events, please respond by return email. That will help our local group with planning. As stated in SRF’s 2022 Winter Appeal, we are happily anticipating “sharing the joy of Convocation in each other’s divine company.” May you be among that company! Jai Guru!
In divine friendship,
Kansas City Meditation Group
